Travel information

The closest airport to the venue of the conference at Karlovassi, is the Samos airport approximately 40 Km away. Samos airport is connected to main European airports (London, Brussels, Munich, Frankfurt etc.) via Athens, Greece. Low-fare flights are also available (e.g., Airberlin connects Samos and Vienna, Austria). The flight from Athens to Samos airport takes approximately 45 minutes. There are 5 flights daily between Athens International Airport and Samos airport (4 with Aegean/Olympic airlines and 1 with Astra airlines). There will be a free bus provided by the University of the Aegean Sea which will transfer the participants from Samos airport to Karlovassi and back during the conference. Alternatively, taxis from the airport to Karlovassi cost approx. 40-45 euros one-way and they are available in front of the arrival terminal. The trip lasts approximately 50 minutes.

Excursions

There will be an excursion on the island organised on Wednesday afternoon. However, if participants wish to stay for an extra day after the end of the conference, the organisers will be happy to arrange a trip to either the ancient city of Ephesus, in Turkey, where the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, used to be, or the Greek island of Patmos, where one can visit the Cave of the Apocalypse, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
